Belt daily inspection method
Oct 03, 2019
The inspection of the belt mainly includes two aspects: belt tension and belt wear.
First check the tension of the belt. At this time, use the thumb to strongly press the belt between the two pulleys. The pressing force is about 10 kg, and if the belt pressing amount is about 10 mm, the belt tension is considered to be suitable. If the amount of reduction is too large, the tension of the belt is considered to be insufficient. If the belt has almost no reduction, the tension of the belt is considered to be too large. When the tension is insufficient, the belt is prone to slip. When the tension is too large, it is easy to damage the bearings of various auxiliary machines. To this end, the relevant adjustment nut or bolt should be loosened to adjust the tension of the belt to the optimum state.
In addition to this, you must also pay attention to the wear of the belt. The old belt is heavily worn, causing a sharp drop in the contact area between the belt and the pulley. At this time, as soon as the belt is pressed hard, the belt sinks deeply into the groove of the pulley. The rubber of the belt also has an aging problem. If the belt rubber is seriously deteriorated, the new belt must be replaced in time.
There are several belts at the front end of the engine, and each belt plays an important role. On the engine, various auxiliary machines are driven by a belt drive, such as an air conditioner compressor, a power steering oil pump, an alternator, and the like. If the belt breaks or slips, it will cause the associated auxiliary machine to lose its function or degrade its performance, thus affecting the normal use of the car. Therefore, daily inspection of the belt is very important.
